Back, Back, Back to Blog again

Hallo, mates. Long time, no blog. Thought I'd try to re-enter the blogging world. At least on my off weeks I can try to keep up. The lovely lady to your right, as most of you know, is Singen. She's just so cute, I thought I'd share her preciousness.

Work is crazy. So far....one enterotomy, one gastrotomy, 3 pyometras, one C-section, 1287 hit by cars, 1287 snake bites, 1287 seizures and 1287 dog fights. I thought I'd try to keep my spay and neuter skills up at the Humane Society, although speed is what they value and I am not at all speedy. We'll see how it goes with practice.

Hope everyone is great!

Love you.....mean it.

Things I have learned this week

Here is the real Daisy, thanks to Herschel & April for telling me how to get a picture out of my files. Her tribute remains. Thumbs up and much love to Daisy who left us on Wednesday March 1, 2006. She was really a wonderful dog (even if she chased April).

In keeping with April's and Michelle's traditions...here are a few things I have learned this week.
* The vet techs at South Athens know way more than I do.
*If your dog's hematocrit is 11.3, he needs a transfusion pronto.
*All dogs and cats have vomting and diarrhea all the time.
*It is really hard to get blood from the jugular vein of a cat.
*It is very hard to answer any questions related to my career correctly.
*Shit really smells.
*Some people really do believe that heartworm protection is optional.
*Pets can be oddly whimpy.
*Radiographs only show you something is wrong if the heart is big or if your dog ate a metallic object (or a potato!).
*My house is really quiet witout my dog.
* I really miss my peeps.

Hope to see you all soon! Love you...mean it.

Nancy's First Public Appearance

Yes, everyone, I know how exciting this is! Here is Nancy, our beloved trophy for the 2006 Ultimate Poker Championship. Many of the rules are the same. Some have changed. So get ready for the most dramatic poker year ever (a rip off quote from the bachelor)!

Although Nancy's name may be a bit misleading. he really is a tough little man, equipped with piercings.

Three cheers for Nancy!

South Carolina History...a brief moment in time

Although South Carolinians most often make the news for being the biggest idiots in the country, I thought it pertinent to point out that this has not always been the case.

South Carolina, in fact, developed the 1st submarine in history to successfully sink a warship. What sub, you ask? Why the Hunley, of course.

Lt. George Dixon and his eight man crew embarked on this historic event on February 17, 1864. Powered by the men with a crankshaft, the Hunley cast out in the night toward the Union blockade ship, the Housatonic.

Armed with a 135 pound torpedo mounted on the front, the sub rammed the hull of the ship, creating a vast hole. As they backed away, the jerked the rope attached to the torpedo to blast the ship. The entire Housatonic caught fire and sank three minutes later. The Hunley flashed the predetermined signal for success and was never heard from again. All aboard perished in their triumphant night.

In 1995, the Hunley was once again to see the light of day as it was discovered off of the coast of Charleston. It was raised and delivered to the old Chaleston Naval Station where it is presumed it will stay until 2007. It is speculated that it will then be placed on display at the Charleston Museum. Amazingly enough, the remains of the crew were also found and given a proper burial.

So, whenever you hear people speak of the idiots of good 'ol South Carolina, kindly remind them that we weren't always idiots. We may have fought for the wrong side, but we had some damn good engineers.

Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that cigarette!

After a long hiatus, I have returned to the blogging world. Doesn't Mr. Chimp look happy? That is how I felt after smoking my 1st cig in 37 hours and 12 minutes on Wednesday. I have started over everday, but have yet to make it through a full day again. Failure? I do not think so.

Good times at Tasty World last night, followed by the ever famous "one drink too many" at Room 13. Ryan and I took a cab ride home and devoured a frozen pizza (fully cooked, of course).

Being lazy today. I fear the world of finals next week and have decided to forget they exist for a while. Selective memory can be helpful.

The new ultimate poker championship trophy is in the works. A sure crowd pleaser. I predict that all will fight especially hard to win this year as this is the best trophy ever. Are you sitting on the edge of your seat? I know that you are. The only tough thing is coming up with a name to match the grandeur of this gift to our lives. It won't be long before our next poker date, so stay posted for more details.

Love you....mean it

It ain't easy being green

I am missing my Kermit coffee mug today. He went missing months ago along with Henry P. Baloney. Never to be seen again. I can't find another one anywhere that meets up to the lost one. I guess I must lower my standards.

Kitty update - both have come out from under the bed for short moments, seen me, meowed and run back under the bed. Two nights in a row now. Good progress.

My feet hurt from trying to run the freedom line in sock boots. That little EB can really move!

Awwww..the kitties are afraid, very afraid

This is what my two new kitties look like all the time..that is when I can actually see them. One is grey. I have named him Munch, after my favorite t.v. detective. The other is a muted calico. I have named her Mabel. Actually, she came with that name and it suits her so I kept it.

I can't wait to see our chauncey family portrait! April tells me she will bring it to school tomorrow. I am on pins and needles.

I managed to sleep all day today and never went to school. Don't ask me why. I have no good reason. Sure was nice.

Hope everyone is well and had a great holiday. Drink and Dance sounds like a grand idea.
